Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS)
Like any type of road vehicle, it is always the best advice to have it serviced on a regular basis and this does include your caravan or motorhome.
Even if they used just a few times a year the need for a service should be undertaken at least on a yearly basis because even under use can create failures or possible defects.
The above scheme is a combined program between the National Caravan Council (NCC), the Caravan and Camping Club and The Caravan Club. There are a large number of approved workshops thoughout the UK providing well trained and competent specialists to look after your motorhome and caravan.
Some of the areas inspected under the service cover the following areas:
Chassis and running gear
Gas system (fridges not included unless requested)
Fire and safetyGeneral bodywork (which includes damp testing)
If your van is still under guarantee and you encounter any problems contact your dealer.
One of the most common problems in older caravans is the penetration of damp (or water ingress) and this can occur in the following areas:
External accessed lockers
Roof or body seams
Internal seal on the battery box
Door and window frames
The awning channel rails
The road light mounting seals
General Inspection should include:
Handbrake and jockey wheel
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
Guttering (on statics)
